The girl who kicked the hornets nestThe Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest is the third and last novel in Stieg Larsson’s world famous Millennium Trilogy. However, this novel is more than merely the final volume in the trilogy.“Millennium III” is the last novel completed by Larsson before his sudden death in 2004. There are rumours of an unfinished work, but The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest is nevertheless an epical novel in many respects.

Of course, Lisbeth Salander survived her adventures in the two previous novels The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. That is evident from the title. But she faces another threat from sinister forces that had her declared mentally incompetent and sent her to a cruel institution when she was a child.

They want her locked up again and are working to have her charged with two murders in Stockholm and the attempted murder of her father, a Russian gangster. All Salander has left on her side is the ever-faithful Mikael Blomkvist, an editor at Millennium magazine, and a hospital doctor who isn’t convinced by lurid stories declaring her a lesbian Satanist.

To reveal more of the plot would be criminal, as Larsson’s mastery of the unexpected is why millions have fallen hard for his work. But rest assured that the odds are again stacked, the challenges personal, and the action fraught with neck-snapping revelations in this snarling conclusion to a thrilling triad. This closing chapter to The Girl’s pursuit of justice is guaranteed to leave readers both satisfied and saddened once the final page has been turned.
